What is the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme?

Is an assessed international programme for students aged 16 to 19, developing inquiring, knowledgeable, confident, and caring young people. This programme empowers students to take ownership in their own learning and help them develop future-ready skills to make a difference and thrive in a world that changes fast.

What are the benefits of the IB Diploma Programme for students?

Students following the International Baccalaureate Programme are given a unique, challenging and diverse education.

As the IB Diploma meets the entry requirements universities both in Peru and overseas, students who obtain the Diploma enjoy a smooth transfer from school to university, often with the added benefit of course credits. (In San Silvestre, students who commit wo the IB Programme must stay an additional year to be able to sit the exams.)

What is the IB Curriculum?

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) curriculum sets out the requirements for study of the DP. The curriculum is made up of the DP core and six subject groups. Made up of the three requirement components, the DP core aims to broaden students’ educational experience and challenge them to apply their knowledge and skills.

Theory of knowledge, in which students reflect on the nature of knowledge and on how we know what we claim to know. The extended essay, which is an independent, self-directed piece of research, finishing with a 4,000-word paper. Creativity, activity, service, in which students complete a project related to those three concepts.
